March 18th, 2008 New Theme

Okay so here I am making the obligatory “New Theme” post. I was originally going to write about something else completely different (seriously. I have a draft post and everything) but I don’t know. I don’t believe I’ll be posting it since it’s no longer relevant. So, onward with the show!

This new theme is mostly CSS and divs (I’ll admit this, the footer is Epic Fail on my part. I used a table. I couldn’t for the life of me manage to make the three divs float next to each other and keep the black background. It was five in the morning so I gave up). The theme, called “solitude” (with a lowercase S) involved a very interesting process to be honest. It developed into something very nice (I think it’s nice anyway) and different while I was coding it.

I specifically went into the whole coding process with a different color scheme and look in mind- But somewhere along the way I changed the background color and went “I’ve got to use these colors somehow…”. And so I did. The theme I was originally trying to create, and port from Livejournal, was minty-peach’s Boss 66. You can definitely see the similarities.

But I’m very glad the theme took a life of it’s own. It’s a cute theme if I can say so myself. Also, notice the headings. They have little “FP”s next to them (in case you didn’t notice that they were “FP”s) I’ve decided that will be the website’s logo. Since I suck at creating logos but I’ve wanted one for a long time. Also, another note to take… Take note of. Whatever. I’ve changed around the navigation. I’ll be changing the navigation some more in a bit, combining Network with Domain since Network is only one page. And it should belong with the Domain.

The sudden menu change will perhaps inspire me to actually write up the content for those empty pages, ha.

Also, a last thing to take note of is the navigation itself. The kickass styling was accidental but I thought it was neat so I left the mess how it was. Don’t view the website in IE because it looks horrible. But otherwise it looks awesome in Opera, Safari and Firefox (which should be fine since the people who visit this site mainly use those three browsers anyway).

In other news, Simba woke me up at six in the morning today with a good session of foot-gnawing. I love that cat. How is everyone else doing today?

Edit: Who knew changing an introduction would take so much work? =/ Took me like fifteen minutes to come up with something to replace my two year old introductory page.

3 Peaches to “New Theme”

  1. Loves it. LOOOOVES it. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES it.

AND: A menu without image map? HURRAY!

Yes. I’ll stop being eccentric now. But really, really nice theme. Love the lack of pink XD. And plaid FTW. Aaaand, I couldn’t figure out the three-column divs either. The fact that you can’t “float: center;” a div pisses me off. It should be simple like that. But it’s not. Ugh.

  2. Thanks so much!

And I love the new theme :)

I haven’t got time to read the blog right now though, I’ll come back. Homework has to get done. lol.

  3. Wow I like the pattern in the background. This is completely different from anything you’ve showed us at Tapestry. It’s nice though. I like the FPs, and the simplicity of this layout. Are there supposed to be bullets under Twitter though? They look like they’re going to come off the edge of the page…maybe if you had padding to the left.

I too have created a new layout. It’s not 100% done though. By the way, I’ve moved to endless-sonata.net. You can delete my account at alamoria at the end of this month, just in case people come by not knowing I’ve changed my address. Thanks so much for the hosting.
