John Edwards resigns from the presidential campaign
And just when I thought it was safe to be an American again, he drops out.
If you ask me, both Clinton and Obama are looney.

I wish sometimes I was more aware of news and things going around me.
Heath Ledger, brilliant actor, was found dead in his home on January 23rd 2008. I was damn shocked. For a while I just kept staring at the news right now. I didn’t think it was real.
He was only 28. I’m at a loss for words right now.

I got frustrated with WordPress’s eCommerce plugin because it wouldn’t work, nor would all the other shop plugins (well. a lot of them did work, just not to my standard I suppose). So I went the cheap way.
I’ve opened a shop, yup. Created my own things thanks to Zazzle.com. You can view what I’m selling in my new Shop page. All I did was make a page in WordPress and post thumbnails to link to the product pages on Zazzle.
I hope you guys at least look at the page, yeah? It’s not much and it pretty much sucks. But I’ll make more as I practice. I’m trying to learn to use Photoshop’s pen tool. I want to draw stuff. ._. Which I’ve never been able to do. So yeah.
Just enjoy the shop. Even if you don’t buy anything, I’d appreciate you guys taking a peek.

NOTE: This post contains a little ad at the end of it. This is as far as I’ll push advertisements because I don’t want to soil this blog anymore than it’s been soiled during it’s young life. So you’ll see an ad at the bottom of a post once in a while.
Or sucks. Whichever word tickles your fancy. I like using Blows better. Simply because it’s the opposite of the word Suck but still means that something is damn awful. Yay for multiple meanings, right? What words do you use to say something blows beyond total belief yet people yearn for it like Jesus?
Apple revealed it’s new computer product at Macworld a little whiles back, the Macbook Air. Everyone and their moms were thinking up what good ol’ Steve Jobs would have in store for us. I talked it over with my friends too, of course. All of our main hopes seemed to be on an imaginary notebook that was cheaper than their current ridiculously-priced line of Macbooks.
A subnotebook, for the people. People who are too broke to purchase Apple’s normal hardware and want that wonderful OS X experience without having to saw an arm off and personally hand said arm to Steve Jobs through his bathroom window.
And after looking at the pile of arms he has in his tub collecting dust (because poor people aren’t human) Steve decided that sure, he’ll give us a subnotebook.
And wow, what a notebook.

I’m a huge fan of freeware for my computer, even bigger fan of open source programs for said computer and websites.
What’s the difference between open source and freeware? Lots.
A program or script that’s considered freeware would typically be done by a person, group of people or a company who is closed off to the general public. And by closed off, I’m talking about code-wise. They don’t let anyone touch the code or see the code, definitely not edit the code.
An open source program / script is just that. Open source. The code is freely available. Free for anyone to grab and edit, redistribute, no restrictions on what they can do. Most open source software or scripts I’ve seen are under the GPL, General Public License which is to allow anyone to do the above mentioned.
When it comes to programs for my computer, I don’t mind if it’s freeware or open source. Either or would be wonderful for me, as long as I like the program and if I don’t have to pay for it. Because I’m flat broke most if not all the time.
My websites, though. I really prefer open source. Why?
I like the idea of people sharing code and communities working on a project to call their baby. It’s just an awesome feeling. Plus I’m somewhat paranoid. I like having open source scripts on my websites because I can do whatever I like with it design-wise, don’t have to worry about the license.
I’m a PHP / MySQL noob of the infinite degree so all I really can do is edit templates and themes for things. So the idea that I don’t have to keep a “Managed by (insert script)” text or an ugly button anywhere makes me full of gleeeeeeee.
On my computer I don’t have much open source software as I used to mainly because I’ve reinstalled Vista almost a month ago.
As for website scripts I’ve used WordPress (you’re looking at it) and NucleusCMS. For web forums, I’ve used phpBB (I won’t link to it simply because I have beef with the script) and MyBB (very awesome, ftw).
What are your thoughts on freeware and open source? Does it make any difference to you, as long as it’s free? And finally, do you guys have any open source stuff on your computers?
Feel free to share what freeware and open source things you use for your computer or websites, I’d love to see what you use!
